NOAA Reports Magnetic North is Moving
Why should you care where magnetic north is located? If you own a compass, GPS, or any other device dependent on the earth’s magnetic poles for information, they become inaccurate when magnetic north relocates. For any GPS, and this includes the ones on airplanes and ships critical for navigation, the correction is accomplished in the software.
However, Cork (Ireland) Airport and Geneva, Switzerland, have renamed their runways - to keep up with Earth's magnetic poles. Zurich, Switzerland airport might be the next, among many others.
