International Women in Aviation - March 8th

Women in Aviation International

International Women’s Day is being celebrated on Friday 8 March 2019
British Aviation Minister, Liz Sugg, said: “For every 100 airline pilots, 94 are male. With a shortage of pilots in the future, the aviation industry needs to be making the best use of the talent in this country.”
Women account for nearly half (47%) of the national workforce, but only 6% of airline pilots in the UK are women - while India’s female pilot numbers are double of that.

It’s a Woman”, stemmed from reaction over the telephone of Queensland grazier Charles Russell after he discovered the Walton was to be the pilot of a plane tasked to rescue him during a 1936 flood.  She lived long enough to see the first Qantas Airbus A380 Superjumbo named after her.
