AOPA Fly-Ins 2019

Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Members and Friends:
In celebration of its 80th anniversary, AOPA will host three grand, two-day fly-ins for the 2019 season. These aviation festivities will run all day Friday and Saturday and will feature expanded exhibit hours, seminars, workshops, aircraft displays, and special aerial demonstrations.

Special events are being planned to include a Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) Invitational Competition to showcase the skills and aircraft of backcountry flying and an engaging Friday night aviator’s party.  The most important AOPA Fly-Ins 2019:

- May 10/11 at AOPA’s headquarters in Frederick, MD
Besides the AOPA headquarters, Frederick always reminds me of a visit to downtown and the most delicious chocolate cake I ever had in my life there. Visit the main street and you will find it!

Don’t miss the numerous heritage sites, such as the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, with immersive exhibits on battlefield medical care.  The Schifferstadt Architectural Museum is a 1750s German colonial house with a heritage garden.
Rose Hill Manor Park & Museums includes a manor house, a log cabin, and a children’s museum.
.
- June 21/22 in Livermore, CA
Visit some of the 50 wineries on your own pace or with the Livermore Trolley Tour - or a collection of artisanal breweries.
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Discovery Center is encouraging curiosity and interest in science by offering hands-on interactive activities.  Nature lovers will enjoy the Sycamore Grove Regional Park and others the  Ravenswood Historic Site tours.
.
- Sept. 13/14 in Tullahoma, TN
When you Fly-in:
Don't miss the Beechcraft Heritage Museum https://beechcrafthm.org/
and the surrounding natural heritage: the Machine Falls
Adore scenic waterfalls and nature trails in the tranquil surroundings of the Short Springs Natural Area. Lovely views with short moderate hikes.
